Introducing Annabell
My birth wasn't the way I planned. I was diagnosed with preeclampsia as I came in the hospital to deliver, which meant that I wasn't allowed in water or able to move around. I needed drips, medication and an when they failed, an epidural to lower my blood pressure. Which was hard to deal with, but once the epidural was in and the BP under control I was able to focus on bringing our baby girl Annabell into the world.
Looking at the positives from my medicalised birth was that the nurses said I 'pushed like a pro' thanks to my breathing techniques. I refused an episiotomy (even though they were very pushy) and didn't tear. After 28 hours of labour they wanted to take me to surgery, but I stayed strong, Annabell was born vaginally less than an hour later, just as the surgeon came to get me! haha. She came exactly a week early at 5.58am on 14/12/14. A tiny 2.645kg and 47cm.
I do think it's really important to have someone there to help with the affirmations, in hindsite I wish I had lisa there. Thankyou for teaching me how to say no to things I didn't want, to be strong, and the hypnobirth techniques were particularly helpful in the early stages.
