HypnoBub - Sienna Violet born 1st Feb 2014 at 6.15am by Kristin
On my due date 31st Jan I woke up at 8am to my waters breaking. I had been to ob appointment 2 days prior & bubs had still not engaged. I called the hospital & was advised to make my way there. As my contractions had not started yet, I took the morning very slowly. I had a shower, did my hair and makeup and took some photos :-) lol. Me and Ryan went to the shops and got some lunch. At 11am contractions had started. We made our way to the hospital, contractions were 6mins apart. Although she was not engaged, I was positive that the contractions would help move things along.
Anna Holmes had flown interstate & would not be there for the birth. I had Mark McKenna as my OB. Lovely man. He and the midwifes completely respected all our wishes on our birth plan. We were left alone to labour and had no VE's at this stage.
My labour slowly progressed although contractions were getting stronger & closer together. 10 hours later, at 9pm I had my first VE, unfortunately I was only 2-3cm dilated. I continued to labour throughout the night drug free. I was so relaxed & enjoyed every minute. I listened to Hynobirthing CD, walked, had showers, used fit ball, stretched & did yoga. I was so determined and focused to engage this baby! At 5am the following morning (1st Feb) I had been in labour for 18 hours, contractions were 2mins apart. The OB came in to examine me and by this stage I was so tired & exhausted mentally & physically. He told me that our baby was still not engaged & I was only 4cm dilated. His professional opinion was that this baby was not coming anytime soon & it appeared that my canal was too narrow for her to get her head any further down, although bubs was trying very hard, it just wasn't happening.
Unfortunately I had to have a caeseran. I was so disappointed. I got a beautiful healthy baby girl though, so its all worth it in the end.
At 6.15am she was born and she has had me running around like crazy ever since.
Thankyou for all your love & support lisa. I will continue to be an advocate for Hypnobirthing.
Love Kristin Ryan & Sienna xo
