Birth of Eamon Ray Morrison

Hi Lisa,

Graham and I would like to thank you for all the training and expert tips you gave us during our five hypnobirthing sessions. We gave birth completely naturally (except gas) on Monday the 28th of October to our beautiful boy Eamon Ray Morrison.

Our waters broke at 4.30 am and contractions started from there. We stayed home until 4pm when my contractions were two minutes apart. I was very calm at home listening constantly to the rainbow relaxation and having baths, I even slept for a couple of hours. When I made it to the hospital I had to have a VE for the cord banking and that made me lose it a bit because I was only 3cm but it all seemed to go really fast from there. Graham helped me have a shower and I was able to calm down listening to the relaxation cd. By the time I got out of the shower I was in transition and screaming for some sort if relief so I could have a break. Graham was very helpful trying to keep me calm and telling me to breath. They quickly wheeled me over to the labour suite ( I think they had forgotten I was just in a normal room) where I was told that I was nearly in the pushing stage and it was too late to have an epidural. The midwife was so good. She thoroughly read my birth plan and refocused me. I even remember her telling me "you are an intelligent girl and you must know about the labour process because it is in your birth plan, so I know you don't really want an epidural".

After about an hour of pushing (I don't actually think I pushed my body seemed to do it with or without my help) Eamon was born and delivered by graham at 9.45pm. An hour later we delivered the placenta physiologically. Four hours later I was at home with my little boy with no stitches or complications. Without the classes out birth story would have been very different. Thank you for all the knowledge you imparted on us.

I may not have been in the zone all the time but graham was very good at keeping me calm, focused and was able to discuss everything with the midwives. Even though it hurt, I am so happy with our birth story. We had a beautiful birth and a beautiful boy as a result. I am so happy my birth story isn't one that makes others squirm. All the other mums I know can't believe how easy I had it and shocked that I got home so quickly.

Thank you for everything.

Kind regards

Melissa and graham Morrison
